I had an amazing experience at Aniko Salon and Spa. I received the thermal reconditioning straightening treatment there a few days ago and I must say that I am 100% satisfied with the results and the professional service from the friendly staff. Alana, who is the thermal reconditioning specialist was so helpful and kind from the minute I was introduced to her. I had originally gone into the Aniko Salon a week or so ago to get my brows done and inquired about the thermal straightening treatment. I have been receiving thermal treatments for about the last 6 yrs. I was disappointed with the last treatment I had received last year at a different salon because of suboptimal results. Alana told me about a new thermal product line, Avlon that was a more effective, faster and healthier product for straightening hair. It follows same mechanism of action as other thermal products, but it is a stronger product that works on even very resistant curl such as mine and still leaves the hair beautifully soft and conditioned. Alana had arranged for the developer and owner of the Avlon product line to be present for my treatment to ensure every step was executed in a very specificied manner. I have gotten the treatment 6 times before at other salons, and can honestly say that this experience was by far the best ever both for results and service. I give my highest recommendation for Salon Aniko and the product line Avlon.

This salon spa is the best I've been too. My hair has always been so difficult to manage, making me resort to the boring ponytail every day. I went here once for a haircut, and I don't think I will ever go anywhere else!! They have the most wonderful service, amazing products and hair tips, and most importantly, the end result is impressive to say the least. I have gone there 3 times now, and each time, I fall in love with Aniko even more!

I just had a massage with Paula and it was. . . indescribably good! I went
it with some serious stress-related tension in my shoulders and she spent
careful and intense time to help me. Her methods were fantastic and, though I've not had the luxury of many massages, this one was definitely the best I've had. I plan to return for another visit soon and continue to work outthe knots!

Update - 07/22/2008

I wanted to update since I've now had my hair done at Aniko. I've been
going to the same person for 5 years so I was really nervous about getting
my color and cut done by someone new. I finally found my new person!
Stephanie, who is new to the salon did a fantastic job on my cut and color!
I'm so relieved I don't have to trek out to the Suburbs anymore. I'm
bringing my daughter in for color when she comes to town next month!

I have long natural, curly African-American hair and I have never met a
stylist or been to a salon that truly caters to my hair care needs. I have
had a lot of stylist who either administered too much heat to my hair, put
too much product in my hair, or did not properly cleanse my hair which
always left my hair not having that "look" you want once you leave the
salon.

The salon has great customer service from the front desk right down to the owners, but the my stylist is why I refuse to go anywhere else.

Ever since I have been with Alana, my hair has never looked this good! My
hair has not only grown down to the middle of my back, but it is healthier
than I have ever known it to be. Plus, she is an amazing colorist and when
she suggested we do an all over color, I was nervous, but totally
comfortable with her and her expertise. I can't tell you how many
compliments I have gotten on my new hair color!

I love her professionalism and have never met a stylist that's so
knowledgeable about all types of hair! If you are looking for someone who
knows hair and is truly about her craft and about making women have HEALTHY HAIR, Alana is your girl

I've been going here for various things for the last year, even before the new ownership. Apree is great for waxing and Laura is awesome for nails. I was really sad to see Brittany leave, she was so sweet!

This place is great! I'm really happy to have found a new salon within walking distance of my house.

I got a cut and color with Gabrielle, who is really friendly and cool. Not only did she do a beautiful job, but she was fast too! It was the first time that I have been out of a salon with full highlights and a cut in only two hours. (Usually it takes at least 3, and on one sad occasion, it has taken 5.) I think this may be my favorite hairstyle ever. It turned out *exactly* how I wanted, and I've been getting lots of compliments. Plus, it's a lot more affordable than any other salon I've been to in this city. I will definitely be back.

Okay, so I have been to the same hair colorist and hair stylist for about 10 years and they are wonderful but with gas prices and me living in the city I could not justify driving out to the south suburbs every 6 weeks to have my hair done. While trying to save money I waited about 9 months to have my hair cut and then put a box color on my hair. Needless to say my hair turn to straw. I have pretty long hair and did not want to cut it all off. So I went to Aniko Salon (which is down the street from my house) with my fingers crossed. Christy cut my hair and Ashton colored it. OH MY GOD THEY SAVED MY HAIR!!! Christy barely had to cut anything off and Ashton colored it just the way I had imagined. They also recommended this really great shampoo and conditioner and my hair has never been so soft. It is a bit pricey but I will safe my pennies to go back to these two.

Patrick is absolutely wonderful! I got a great haircut for the first time in several years, and I have never liked the blow out from any other stylist until Patrick did it. As long as I am in Chicago I will follow Patrick. I can't wait to let him "fix" my color! The cash only tip which many salons do now is annoying. The last thing on my mind before rushing off to a hair appointment is to stop by the atm. It's not just Aniko it's all salons I have been to over the past few years, and all it does is screw the stylists and save the owner a minimal fee on the credit card processing fee.

First of all I drove into the city from the west burbs.... I heard all these great things about Aniko and the stylist Cristy--apparently every one I know has has followed her from her previous employer all the way down to the south loop! I figure it has to be worth it! Let me tell you--IT IS!!! She does amazing hair! She actually listens and gives you the style you want! It's a little pricey but to get the look your looking for...IT's SO WORTH IT!!!! On the other hand--management is so bad the women was yelling at the receptionist in front of the customers, crabby and doesn't seem to like her job! The place can do with out her!!! I RECOMMEND CRISTY TO EVERYONE AND GIVE HER FOUR STARS!!!! The manager called me twice rushing me to my appointment and one of those calls where while i was actually standing in the reception area! WHATS UP WITH THAT!!!

Pros: STYLIST, PAMPERINNG, ALL THE WINE YOU CAN DRINK!

Cons: THE PRICING, MANAGEMENT, THE MANAGER CALLED 5min prior to my appointment rushing me!!

In this busy crazy world, it's nice to find a place to get a haircut and be pampered on a Sunday. Aniko Salon and Spa is located in a new condo building. I've met the owners and managers and everyone has been respectful and outoging. Aniko Salon and Spa also supprots the local events and community which is important. I have been going to the salon since January. I went in last week for my usual cut and treated myself to a manicure and pedicure. Patrick did a great job. He is very focused on providing the best service to his guests and is very attentive. He has over years of experience in the business and brings a level of expertise to the salon and the area that we need in the South Loop. I highly recommend Patrick to anyone who wants great service and style and to feel like they are special.

Spa Ariel has changed ownership and names but has only improved on their spa services. The atmosphere is extremely inviting and relaxing with a small water fixture in the lobby, cozy robes and excellent service.
I've enjoyed a recent facial, pedicure and manicure all of which I loved. I've been for a massage as well but I think that was still under the old ownership.
Services are on the higher end but they're worth it.
I loved my signature pedicure for $65. The nail technician turned my runners' feet into beautiful works of art which was quite a challenge! Several different signature options include a chocolate one which I want to try next time.

Thank you! Someone finally put a great, relaxing and affordable salon and spa in the South Loop! The people are actually nice, it's not pretentious or annoying, and the services are a great value. I highly recommend this place!

I started going there when it was under different ownership for eyebrow waxing. Apree is the best for waxing!! I also went in for a mani and pedi right after the new ownership came in, and I think it got better. It is so relaxing and inviting. And, it's so easy to get to that it just become addictive. Highly recommended!

Pros: Easy to get to and a wonderful, friendly staff

Cons: Not always on time, but the relaxing atmosphere makes you forget about that.

I recently visited Aniko for a color and cut service. I was booked with a colorist named Ashton. I was very nervous to go to a new colorist but after meeting with him, I felt very confident in his services. I got the exact color that I wanted! He made me feel so comfortable and really gave me what I was looking for! I highly recommend anyone to go see Ashton at Aniko! It is well worth it! He is so much fun and gave a great overall salon experience!

After a stressful month of long hours and relocation chores from LA to Atlanta, I had an opportunity to take a break and visit Chicago recently. In fact, my travel agenda led me to Aniko Salon & Spa where I was overdue for a new hairstyle. The 'Aniko experience' was just what the doctor ordered. This upscale salon (located in the South Loop), with its cool contemporary decor and ambience, is very relaxing and comfortable. The staff is quite friendly, and amazingly talented. The location is convenient since it was a short cab ride from Midway airport. From the warm greeting (Receptionist), to the amazing Alana Snowden Cut/Color service, I felt the cost was well worth it! There is a thread of excellence in this professional environment that makes you want to come back for more. I've added this treat to my quarterly calendar, and look forward to experiencing the spa services on my next trip!

Pros: Comfy/cozy ambience, great location, professional and courteous staff, reasonable cost
Cons: Parking

Best hair colorist in the city! She's not afraid to tell you what would look great on you. And if you come in with a picture or a specific highlight/lowlight idea, she'll do what you ask. Perfect every time!

Pros: Gabrielle is Great
